    Iowa wind bill blitz

Update, March 11: All of the bills died. ‘We were never going to get what we needed, not with the wind industry’s very strong lobby. Most likely we would’ve backed into a “compromise” (we all know how well the wind industry compromises) and we would’ve been stuck with a bill that helps very few, if anyone. We were pleased and emboldened by the express support from many of our legislators.’ Update, March 5: SF 361 is the only wind energy . . .

Polish Parliament adopts mandatory setback – 10 times turbine height – for industrial wind turbines

On 9 June Polish Senate approved the bill providing for mandatory setbacks of new wind farm developments from residential housing, which had already been passed by the Lower House several weeks ago. To become law, the legislation must now be signed by Polish President Andrzej Duda and officially published. The law is expected to come into effect as from 1 July 2016. This new regulation affects rural communities in a number of important ways: future wind farms may be sited . . .

The petition of the people declare that they want to see local decisions upheld over wind turbines. The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons bring in changes to stop planning appeals over-ruling local decisions made by local councillors in the relevant planning authorities and ensures the Government’s localism agenda is pursued in all cases. Place giant wind turbines at least 2 km from human settlements!

Go to sign petition:  https://secure.avaaz.org/en/petition/Place_giant_wind_turbines_at_least_2_km_from_human_settlements/ Recently, there has been a lot of activity in Europe around the planning and building of large, modern-type wind turbines. We see wind energy as an important contributor to green energy, and we are in favor of exploiting wind energy as well as other kinds of green energy sources for Europe’s energy demands. However, new academic research performed in the USA and in Denmark has shown that the noise from modern, giant wind turbines contains . . .

To sign, go to: epetitions.direct.gov.uk Responsible department: Department for Communities and Local Government We, the undersigned, urge the Government to resurrect the ‘Wind Turbines (Minimum Distances from Residential Premises) Bill’ by Lord Reay (HL Bill 17), which was dismissed in January 2012 after 2 readings. Whilst the issue of tackling climate change is an important one, it cannot be given greater priority than the health, safety and wellbeing of the people who would end up living in the shadow of . . .

Ian Hanna v. Ontario – Legal Action update

As many are aware, in October 2009, with the support of a great many people, a major legal challenge was launched under my name to the Green Energy Act – specifically to the parts that deal with siting and setbacks of Industrial Wind Turbines (IWTs) in relation to people’s homes. This “Application for Judicial Review” seeks to have IWT development close to people placed on hold across Ontario until independent, epidemiological studies are completed to determine safe setbacks from places . . .
