A fire in a wind turbine in Germany’s Lower Saxony on January 18 prompted warnings from local authorities to keep windows and doors closed in nearby areas while authorities tackled the blaze.
A photo released by local police shows the blaze 100 meters up at the top of the tower supporting the turbine near Bodenwerder.
This video captures the fire and shows flaming debris falling to the ground.
The fire broke out around 5 pm, authorities said. The cause was not immediately known, but police said it was likely triggered by a “technical defect.”
