Alert as fire breaks out at wind farm

A turbine exploded into flames last night at one of Scotland’s biggest windfarms.
The structure – at Whitelee, less than 20 miles south of Glasgow – started to smoke then flames were seen shooting from the top. No one was injured.
A ScottishPower Renewables spokesman said: “We’re working with the emergency services following reports of fire on a turbine at Whitelee Windfarm at about 6pm. We will carry out a full investigation.”
