After the failure of an Opposition private member’s bill to stop wind turbine developments in unwilling host communities, the Tories are pressing the Liberal government on turbine noise.

In an exchange in the Legislature Wednesday, Huron-Bruce Progressive Conservative MPP Lisa Thompson accused the government of ignoring its own research.

The testing took two years, and results released April 7th confirm noise from turbines located near two rural Huron-Bruce properties goes beyond provincial regulations.

Thompson criticized Environment and Climate change Minister Glen Murray after more testing was ordered, and challenged his ministry to shut off the turbines immediately.

Murray says the ministry enforces the law when it comes to excessive noise from turbines or any other industrial source.

He told the House that the province doesn’t play favourites among wind farm developers or people who believe turbines are harmful to their health.
