ASHFORD – A national renewable energy company is looking at land about a quarter-mile off Interstate 84 for the installation of five wind turbines, but before the project can move forward it first must get permission to erect a test tower in the location.
The Planning and Zoning Commis-sion decided Monday to continue a public hearing on the installation of the test tower until Oct. 15 after hearing most residents at the meeting ask for more information on the project.
Adam Cohen, of Pioneer Green Energy, said his company is asking the PZC to grant a height waiver so a 197-foot-8-inch-tall test tower could be installed to see if the area behind the Ashford Motel would be a good place to install five 2.5-megawatt wind turbines.
