A group of residents in LaSalle are prepared to take all actions necessary, in order to stop wind turbines from being built in their town.
River Canard Energy has been approved to build two turbines in the municipality.
Don Petrozzi is part of the protesting group, and says they’ve hired an environmental lawyer out of Toronto to help deal with the matter. “I think if there’s an opportunity, legally, to place an injunction against this project, from what I understand, this is part of the process. And we should be hearing something (from our lawyer) by the 14th of this month.” Petrozzi says there are 88 other municipalities across Ontario, fighting against the installation of wind turbines.
A petition against turbines was brought to LaSalle council last night with over 400 signatures on it. Town officials have written a letter to the provincial government, asking them to not place turbines within the municipality.
