Citizens of The Dalles, take a careful look at the wind turbines in Washington across the Columbia River from Biggs and Rufus.
The same scene is on the verge of being established across the Columbia River from Hood River, north of Underwood Mountain, just on the northern border of the scenic area.
Is that the way in which you want to preserve the future beauty of the Columbia Gorge?
Please think very carefully and analytically about how you want the gorge to be in the next century.
Once degraded, a beautiful viewscape can never be restored. Just look at the rock quarries gouged out of the once-beautiful hillsides above Bingen.
Think about it.
