A spokesperson for the Oregon Department of Energy says a Chicago based company is considering an area east of Shaniko for a 500 megawatt wind power project. Energy spokesperson Diana Enright says they will hold a public meeting about the project on Thursday in Shaniko. ‘Eon Climate and Renewables North America’ is evaluating 85,000 acres of private land in Wasco and Sherman Counties for the project. Besides Thursday’s public meeting, the Oregon Department of Energy will accept comments until December 15th. Enright also says sometimes companies will submit a wind energy plan and downsize it later.
