Campaigners argue a wind farm would destroy the local landscape

Plans for a new windfarm in Cambridgeshire have been thrown out by councillors.

Broadview Energy wanted to build four 125m (410ft)-high turbines at Bicton near Kimbolton.

Campaigners, who rejected accusations they were in denial over climate change, said the project would destroy the local landscape.

The developers said they planned to appeal against the decision because they felt they had a very good case.

Richard Howard, for the campaign group, said government guidance was that such developments should only take place in the most suitable place and they argued this project failed to meet that requirement.

“Developers do not have the right to trample over other people’s land,” he said.

Jeffrey Corrigan, from Broadview Energy, said: “Of course we are very disappointed and concerned about the decision because there is a very good case for the project.”

A planning committee at Huntingdon District Council voted to reject the plan on Monday night.
