Boone County schedules public hearings on draft wind farm rules
Strict rules governing the development of wind farms in Boone County are being proposed by the Boone County Planning and Zoning Commission and will be the subject of three public hearings this month. The hearings will be: 6:30 p.m. next Thursday in the County Commission Chambers at the Boone County Government Center, 801 E. Next phase starts for Firebrick wind farm
Representatives from Cordelio Power and Tenaska met with Audrain County commissioners on Thursday to discuss the next phase of the 400 megawatt Firebrick wind project. Cordelio acquired the wind farm project from Omaha-based Tenaska in late February for an undisclosed amount. Open meeting announced to discuss proposed wind turbine project in Knox County
KNOX COUNTY, Mo. – An open discussion of the proposed wind turbine project in Knox County has been announced for this week. The meeting will discuss the proposed wind energy collection in the western section of Knox County. The project will include Route 6 and 156, and County Road A, F, and TT, and most properties around those boundaries. Missouri House OKs ban on eminent domain for wind power line
JEFFERSON CITY – The use of eminent domain for a large wind-energy power line cutting through Missouri would be banned under a bill passed by the state House on Thursday. The GOP-led House voted 123-33 Tuesday in favor of the bill, which would prevent the use of property owners’ land for the Grain Belt Express power line without their permission. Missouri lawmakers again trying to pull plug on wind energy line
JEFFERSON CITY – Just days after a major winter storm wreaked havoc on a Texas-size chunk of the nation’s electrical grid, Missouri lawmakers approved a plan designed to block a company from building a high-voltage electric transmission line across the northern part of the state. Missouri’s GOP-led state House on Tuesday moved to ban the use of eminent domain for a large wind-energy power line planned to span from Kansas to Indiana. Ameren takes ownership of newly built wind farm in northern Missouri — the state’s largest
ST. LOUIS – The electric utility Ameren announced Wednesday it now owns its first wind farm, the largest in Missouri. The newly constructed, 400-megawatt project comprises 175 turbines in Schuyler and Adair counties, near Kirksville, in northern Missouri. Ameren expects the facility to produce enough energy to power 120,000 homes in 2021. The High Prairie Renewable Energy Center marks the start of Ameren’s commitment to wind.
