Open meeting announced to discuss proposed wind turbine project in Knox County

KNOX COUNTY, Mo. – An open discussion of the proposed wind turbine project in Knox County has been announced for this week.

The meeting will discuss the proposed wind energy collection in the western section of Knox County.

The project will include Route 6 and 156, and County Road A, F, and TT, and most properties around those boundaries.

The proposed project will include enough turbines to generate 300 megawatts of power and tie into the Mark Twain Transmission Lines.

The meeting will take place Thursday, March 18, at the Knox County Community Center.

Remarks and presentations will include health hazards for humans, livestock, and wildlife, traffic congestion, industrial zone concerns including safety, security, and other general problems associated with wind turbines, including lighting and noise.

The Knox County Community Center is located at 207 North 4th Street, in Edina, Mo.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and speakers will present at 6 p.m., followed by questions from the floor.
