A protest parade is planned through the countryside into Stayner today, over the possibility of an eight-turbine wind farm on County Road 91.
The parade is being planned by the group Clearview WAIT, which has been fighting wind turbines since they were first proposed for the township.
The protest group is staging a rally at Clearview Nurseries, a tree farm near the proposed site of an eight-turbine wind farm.
Spokesperson Colin Huismans says there will be a fly in, dirigibles will be floated at the height of the turbines and he’s expecting people with hay wagons and manure spreaders and tractors to take part in the protest parade.
The group will gather at 3:30 at Clearview nurseries and make its way to the public meeting being held in Stayner by WPD Canada, the company that’s planning the wind farm.
At the meeting, the group plans to be outside the event, since they claim there will not be a true public forum for discussion of the proposal.
