The Ohio Power Siting Board had a decision to make regarding the application of Republic Wind for the construction, operation and maintenance of a proposed wind turbine facility.
This industrial wind project was opposed by the Seneca County commissioners, the trustees of Adams, Reed, Scipio and Thompson townships, the Seneca County Park District, the Seneca County Airport and many local residents who intervened in the case.
After a complete review of all the testimony, evidence, comments and the law, the OPSB unanimously found that this project would have a major impact on the public health and well-being of the residents in the project area.
The OPSB also decided that when balancing projected benefits against the magnitude of potential negative impacts on the local community, the application had to be denied.
A very long process, which started on November 13, 2017, was fairly heard and decided … with the right decision.
