CORUNNA – A temporary moratorium on wind turbine projects has been lifted by the Shiawassee County Board of Commissioners.
The moratorium, intended to fill a loophole created by an area resident who was seeking a referendum to overturn Shiawassee County’s tightened rules for wind farms, was ended by a 6-0 vote of the commissioners at a board meeting Thursday. Commissioner Mark Coscarelli was absent.
Hazelton Township resident Mike Rock was unable to collect the 2,038 signatures he needed for a referendum within the prescribed time period, by July 24.
