Governor, your cynical questioning of whether there are any real harmful impacts to neighbors of solar and industrial wind energy plants in Vermont is frustrating and disrespectful of those of us who since December 2011(in the case of the Sheffield Wind Project) have followed the Public Service Board’s complaint process to no avail.
Our concerns about the turbine noise, visual impacts, property devaluation, and the loss of peaceful use and enjoyment of our properties have been documented by independent experts. The noise testing we have retained these experts to conduct has been replicated and validated by experts hired by your own Department of Public Service.
With all the foot dragging by state agencies led by appointees beholden to you it is no surprise our complaints have resulted in nothing. You have encouraged the “regulatory capture” of these agencies and the Legislature by the wind and solar energy interests as you pursued your “ends justify any means” renewable energy policy.
What you have accomplished during your tenure in the Statehouse and as governor demonstrates why Vermont needs a strong ethics policy and an independent commission to enforce it.
We will be glad to see your back at the end of your term!
