How low can Apex go?

Credit:  MAILBAG: How low can Apex go? | Lockport Union-Sun & Journal | May 15, 2016 | www.lockportjournal.com ~~

It has happened twice. An out-of-state big wind corporation has once again darkened my doorstep!

My neighbors and I ferociously fought to defend our homes, property values and peaceful, country lifestyles from an industrial-scale wind project by Invenergy LLC, from 2007 until 2013, in the town of Orangeville in Wyoming County.

Sadly, less than two years after my husband’s untimely death and being forced to sell our “dream home” / horse farm to get out from under this now-industrialized area in Orangeville, then moving to Somerset to try and rebuild my life here, the same nightmare has returned. I find myself under assault by another ‘greed’ energy, big wind limited liability corporation out of Virginia, that goes by the name Apex.

Apex’s tactics are no different than the ones by the unscrupulous wind corporation that assaulted us in Orangeville. These morally bankrupt big wind LLCs sneak into town and make deals with large landowners long before anyone else knows what’s going on. They show up spewing make-believe stories about life under these giant industrial machines. They use divide-and-conquer tactics that pit neighbor against neighbor.

Apex’s plan is no different than Invenergy’s. They wish to destroy our beautiful area by building a sprawling wind factory throughout the towns of Somerset and Yates, with giant bird-chopping industrial wind turbines as tall as 700 feet high, way too close to our farms, homes and the Lake Ontario Seaway Trail.

Like Invenergy, Apex would not be here if it were not for cronyism-enabled, tax- and ratepayer-funded giveaways like the Wind Production Tax Credit and Renewable Portfolio Standards, which Governor Cuomo and President Obama continue to dole out to their pals in the wind industry.

How low will Apex go? Why do you think we refer to them as snake-oil salesmen? Consider this:

Apex recently hired Five Corners Strategies lobbyist Bo Shuff to help them spread their propaganda. (Note: Five Corners Strategies is an out-of-state lobbying firm, not registered in New York state.) Mr. Shuff spoke at a Buffalo Sierra Club meeting on March 7, at which time he referred to me as a “migratory” who is “paid” by oil companies to fight industrial scale wind projects. This is a blatant lie!

It’s also the same bogus story that had come back to me from others in Somerset long before Mr. Shuff showed up on the scene, leading me to believe that Apex is the originator of this lie. Take notice, Mr. Shuff and Apex, I have duly noted your slanderous, defamatory statements to my attorney.
