Letter: Taxpayers funding wind farms

How generous of us, the taxpayers, to provide MidAmerican Energy Co. with $3.6 billion for wind turbine farms.

The April 15 Quad-City Times story, “MidAmerican plans $3.6B wind turbine project,” begins with MidAmerican’s plans to build a 1,000-turbine farm. You have to read well into the article, to find out over a 10-year period, taxpayers are going to pay for it.

“The project can be completed without additional costs to customers, as the entire $3.6 billion will be recouped through federal tax incentives over 10 years,” it said.

It seems to me if consumers are going to pay for it through taxation, we should receive a credit for $3.6 billion over the next 10 years, less maintenance costs.

And please, do not use climate change as a justification. Go back to the 1950s and 1960s and see what “scientists” were saying about climate change. They were wrong then, and they are wrong today. They just change their climate models to meet their agenda.

Also, some economic education would be advisable. The government has no money except what it takes from taxpayers.
