Count Kewaunee County Board Chairman Ron Heuer as an opponent of a proposed wind farm in southern Kewaunee County. Canadian-owned Capital Power came into control of the Tisch Mills Wind Project after its purchase of Element Power U.S. last winter. The proposed wind farm could potentially produce 150 to 200 megawatts of renewable energy for the area. Heuer believes that the 500-plus foot tall wind turbines are bad news for Kewaunee County for a variety of reasons including tourism, health, and property values.
Kewaunee County has submitted a letter to the state’s Attorney General requesting a legal opinion on establishing a property value guarantee on homes located near the proposed turbines with Capital Power.
