Fear of wind turbine impact on mansion in Devon

Credit:  Western Daily Press | October 15, 2015 | www.westerndailypress.co.uk ~~

Landscape campaigners have criticised a council for supporting a 27-acre solar farm despite local objections that it would be visible from a grade 1-listed Tudor manor house and public garden.

The 6 megawatt renewable energy plant is proposed on land at Wiseburrow Farm, Burlescombe, in Devon.

Historic England has raised concern that the ground-mounted solar arrays will form a “discordant feature” in the landscape.

Visitors to Holcombe Court will be able to see the works and buildings, which would stand on land used for grazing sheep.

Despite objections from Holcombe Rogus and Burlescombe parish councils, Mid Devon District Council has recommended that the committee grant planning permission at a meeting next week.
