The number of online public comments made on Bute Community Power’s planning application for two 47-metre wind turbines on the island has reached the two hundred mark.
At the time this article was written the split was exactly 60-40 against the Auchintirrie farm proposals, with 120 of the published comments opposing the application and 80 supporting it.
The official closing date for public comments on the application is Friday, June 5, although a spokesperson for Argyll and Bute Council has told us the authority will still accept comments made up to the date the application is considered by the council’s planning, protective services and licensing (PPSL) committee.
No date has yet been set for the PPSL to consider the application, though the committee’s next two meetings are due to be held on June 24 and August 19.
However, past experience would suggest that in view of the number of public comments on the application, a special local hearing will be held at a venue on Bute to reach a decision, rather than doing so at a routine PPSL meeting.
To view the Auchintirrie plans, and the public comments made on the application so far, go to the planning section of Argyll and Bute Council’s website and type 15/00951/PP in the Search box.
