ESCANABA – The Delta County Planning Commission approved further changes to a proposed county ordinance amendment on wind turbines before a public hearing.
The commission discussed the topics of wind turbine setbacks and shadow flicker at its regular meeting Monday.
In the section regarding setbacks, the commission voted to require turbine setbacks be 1.1 times the height of the turbine from the edge of any roads and/or 2.2 times the height of the turbine from property lines. Additionally, the amendment will state turbines will be measured from their center for the purposes of determining these distances.
