An application for single wind turbine has been approved despite protest from the British Horse Society
Bedford Borough Council has accepted plans from Bedfordia Farms Ltd for the turbine at Twinwood Airfield in Clapham, despite its proximity to a bridleway.
Objections were raised by Ann Kennedy, regional Chairwoman of the BHS, who claimed that this was a danger as the travelling shadows on the floor from the blades can ‘spook’ horses causing them to run.
But the planning committee felt the application adhered to BHS guidelines by having only a single turbine and its proximity was appropriate, so approved the application.
