Permission granted for Offaly wind farm

Offaly County Council has given the go ahead for a five turbine wind farm near Banagher.
The turbines planned for the Meenwaun Wind Farm are 169mtrs high. The development is located in the townlands of Clongawny Mor, Clongawny Beg, Cloonacullina, Boggaunreagh, Garbally, Ballyslavin, Pollaghoole, Balaghanoher, Ross and Clondallow.
The application to Offaly County Council by Meenwaun Wind Farm Ltd was accompanied by an Environmental Impact Statement(EIS) and a Natura Impact Statement(NIS).
The planning permission is now likely to be appealed to An Bord Pleanala.
