After reading the article “Meade Township likely to vote on wind,” published Jan. 15, through to the end, it seemed that the headline should read: State Muddles Meade Twp. Wind Referendum. If “State law does not allow voters to whole handedly reject wind energy development,” it seems the state is getting in the way of the voters of Meade Township as well as the citizens in general. Who can write a referendum in a yes and no manner if the state dictates the direction of the vote. Sounds like the state law came from a dictatorship not a democracy. Is this Russia or the USA? Matt Wagner, of DTE stated, “In every project, we have contingencies. We always have a backup plan.” So, use the “back up” plan. It doesn’t sound crucial for them (DTE), so why pester the residents. Tell Matt and DTE to get the “dumb” Michigan law changed.
