At a brief weekly meeting on Tuesday, the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors received a copy of a Wind Energy Device Ordinance #2014-01 from County Zoning Administrator Dean Schmidt.
The policy, which addresses standards, conditions, application, review and approval for the construction and maintenance of wind energy devices within Cherokee County, was developed by former County Engineer Dave Shanahan, but had never previously been submitted to the Board.
A summary of the ordinance will be published in the newspaper next week, and a public hearing will be held in the Board of Supervisors room at the Cherokee County Courthouse at 9 a.m. on Tuesday October 7, 2014, before the ordinance can be approved and put into place.
In the only other item of business Tuesday, the Supervisors approved a USDA Voluntary Permanent Base Acre Reduction form for Section 20 in Spring Township.
