Four peole have been killed in a small plane crash in central South Dakota, including a former South Dakota State University football player.
The Piper 32 was registered to Donald j. Fischer of Gettsburg. D-J Fischer was a defensive tackle for the Jackrabbits from 2002 to 2005. His coach John Steigelmeier says Fischer was a small-school guy that just worked his tail off. The biggest thing about him, says Steigelmeier was he was a loved guy-loved by everyone who knew him.
The F-A-A says the plane was flying from Hereford, Texas to Gettysburg when it crashed. It came down near a wind tower on the largest wind farm in South Dakota near Highmore. The plane may have actually hit one of the towers.
The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
The victims have been identified as Fischer, Nick Reimann, Logan Rau and Brent Beitelspacher
