Randolph County Council Tuesday approved a multi-year extension for one to the two wind farms that had been due to begin construction in the county this year. The extension request was approved Monday by the county board of commissioners.

NextEra Energy Resources attorney Mary Solada said NextEra wants to amend its economic development agreement regarding the proposed Bluff Point wind farm to be located north and east of Winchester. Solada said the wind farm, which tentatively calls for 2/3 of the project in Jay County and 1/3 in Randolph County was due to begin construction and to be completed this year.

Solada said she would begin negotiations with Jay County officials this week.

Under the extension, NextEra would begin construction of the project by the end of 2017 and complete it by the end of 2018.
