Turbine turned down

An appeal to build a turbine near Corwen has been dismissed.

The Denbighshire planning committee refused permission for the 77 metre wind turbine at Lletty Farm, Gwyddelwern, near Corwen, in June 2013.

An appeal was lodged but thrown out by the Welsh planning inspectorate on the grounds that ‘the unacceptable visual harm’ would outweigh the benefits.

The planning report by the inspector said: “The main issues in this case are the effects of the proposed development on the character and appearance of the area and on the setting of the nearby Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and whether or not any such harm would be outweighed by the benefits of the proposed scheme.”
