Richfield wind project sent back to drawing board

The second time was not a charm for the Monticello Hills Wind Project in the Town of Richfield.
Neighbors who don’t want wind turbines in their backyards have won their second battle. They’re challenging the Richfield Planning Board’s issuance of a special permit for the project.
Earlier this week, the state supreme court issued a ruling that puts the project back to square one, annulling the special permit.
Ridgeline Energy wants to build six 492-foot-tall turbines on State Route 20 along the existing power lines.
