EAST COUNTY – Firefighters were called to the Campo Indian Reservation Monday after a fire in a power-generating wind turbine sparked a small brush fire.
The blaze in the generator at the Kumeyaay Wind Farm near Tusil Road was reported at 11:47 a.m., said Cal Fire Capt. Mike Mohler.
The flames in the brush were quickly extinguished, but firefighters formed a perimeter around the turbine because it was still smoldering into the afternoon, Mohler said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No structures were burned and no injuries were reported.
