Belford Parish Council hopes to have a final draft of the Community Benefit Fund document, related to the application for the Belford Burn windfarm, soon.
Applicants Energiekontor UK Ltd had provided a draft document for the parish council to consider and it had been agreed that Coun Geoff O’Connell should show the draft to his friend, a solictor who deals with these documents.
“The way it was originally drafted was like a leaky sieve,” he said, although he did admit it was a standard document format that had been used.
County councillor John Woodman asked whether the area of the ‘community’ was defined as other affected parishes may feel that they had a claim.
If the windfarm were approved, it could be worth £2.25million to £2.8million over the 25-year lifespan.
Martin Straker, who owns land near the site, wanted reassurance that any decision would be taken at a public meeting.
