Silverton residents demand $150,000 from AGL

Energy company AGL might be up for an extra $150,000 to build the wind farm in Silverton.
The Silverton Wind Farm Community Consultative Committee announced its demand for the money at a meeting last night.
The committee said the money would be for general expenses and hardship imposed on the committee by the construction and maintenance of the wind farm.
Silverton resident and artist Albert Woodroffe said that the money was there for the taking.
“Some people will get a stipend for having them on their property,” he said.
“I’d like to know what AGL would pay me to start including them in my paintings.”
Nineteen people turned out for the eighth public meeting.
Mr Woodroffe says the meetings are bearing fruit.
“We think, after the eighth meeting, being that this is a consultancy committee, I feel that we’re starting to consult them a bit more than they’re consulting us,” he said.
“It’s becoming interesting.”
The successful tenderer for the wind farm turbines and the location of the turbines are expected to be announced at next month’s meeting.
