Plans quashed for wind farm in Northants village

Plans have been quashed for a new wind farm in a Northamptonshire village.
Daventy District Council’s planning committee met on Thursday to discuss the proposed development on land at Flint Hill Farm in High Street, Yelvertoft.
The committee refused the application for the installation of a wind turbine.
Councillor Steve Osborne, chairman of the planning committee, said: “The officers recommended the application for approval but a local member did not like it. The main reason he recommended refusal was he thought it was one wind farm too many. The committee, in the main, agreed with him.”
The application site is located within the open countryside to south of the village of Yelvertoft.
There are a number of detached residential and farm properties in open countryside close to the site.
Chris Heaton-Harris (Con), MP for Daventry, was against the development.
He said: “I’m very pleased that the planning authority turned this particular turbine down. It is important that people feel protected in their own homes. The argument is the the culmulative effect this development would have had on the area.
“There are proposals for 100 turbines to be installed within 10 miles of Crick and it is about time that this factor was taken into consideration.”
