COOS BAY – South Coast residents will have at least two opportunities to learn about an offshore wind energy proposal this spring.

On May 22, Representatives from Principle Power, the commercial fishing industry and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory of Seattle will provide information about a five-platform wind farm planned for installation approximately 15 miles off Coos Bay.

Meetings will be held from 2-4 p.m. in the Charleston RV Park recreation room and from 6-8 p.m. at the North Bend Public Library.

Principle Power received a $4 million grant. for the project from the Department of Energy in March. The Coos Bay project is one of seven wind technology demonstrations selected by the agency.
