It is expected updated plans for a $150 million wind farm in northern Victoria will be lodged by the middle of this year.
Acciona Australia announced in December it intends to apply for permission to build 23 wind turbines on its land at Berrimal, between Wedderburn and St Arnaud.
The company says the farm could power 36,000 homes and generate 100 construction jobs.
In a report to tonight’s Buloke council meeting, shire staff say the company has indicated it will submit the plans by July.
Acciona received approval in 2007 to build 16 turbines at the same site but construction never started.
The company has applied for a extension of that permit, which the shire says is a stop-gap measure while the updated plans are developed.
Shire staff are recommending an 18-month extension be granted.
