Investigations continue after wind turbine topples

Investigations are underway following the collapse of an 111 foot wind turbine at East Ash Farm in Bradworthy.
The Endurance E-3120 turbine came down in the early hours of January 27 following a night of high winds. No one was injured.
A Health and Safety Executive inspector visited the site on Wednesday and the cause is now being investigated.
Dulas Limited, which installed the turbine at the farm in 2010 is carrying out its own investigation, as its manufacturer Endurance Wind Power.
The Canada-based manufacturer said the incident was not related to a failure or malfunction of the tower or turbine and that neither caused or contributed to the collapse.
“We are working cooperatively with the dealer that installed the turbine and the engineering firm that designed and supplied its foundation to understand the precise cause of the problem,” it said.
On Wednesday a smaller turbine collapsed in North Cornwall, prompting Energy Secretary Ed Davey to warn operators to make sure their equipment is safe.
The Beckett family from West Yorkshire contacted the Gazette on Thursday to tell how their six year old turbine also came down after its foundation bolts failed.
