Hanover officials receive project updates

Resident and ZBA member Dana Bennett also asked about the status of the proposed wind farm near Ball Hill. Johnson said the town has heard nothing from the company since it had a special meeting with representatives months ago. He added since that time several phases set out on a schedule given to the board have gone by without any word from the company. Bennett also asked whether local zoning will apply to the project given a new state law. Attorney Jeffrey Passafaro said he didn't know whether the project would apply under the new law which makes commercial energy solely under state zoning authority.

HANOVER – Good news is on the horizon for one of the Town of Hanover’s projects planned for the spring.

At a recent town board meeting, Councilman Kevin O’Connell said he had been in contact with property owner Brian Minor about the crucial easement for the Sunset Bay drainage project.

O’Connell said he will be in the area for a while and although Minor has always been “cooperative and supportive,” he hopes to get this wrapped up while he is in town.

“I told him we want to get at it as early as possible so we can avoid any kind of problems in the spring. I explained to him a month or so ago when we had the heavy rains we had water issues down there that we really need to get at,” he said.

O’Connell thanked Legislator George Borrello for his help in the matter.

The next board meeting will be held Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. with a workshop at 6:30 p.m. A planning board meeting will be held Jan. 21 at 7 p.m.

In other business:

Borrello said a project for stream bank stabilization in Silver Creek is high on the list for bed tax funding which will be reviewed by the Planning and Economic Development Committee.

Highway Superinten-dent Steve D’Angelo reported a drainage tile near the railroad tracks was moved, allowing water to flow into the bay. The tile was replaced but it is not known who moved the heavy barrier.

The board held an executive session for pending litigation.
