Furious residents in Dalmellington have demanded that a meteorological mast erected in a former open-cast site is ripped down.
The device has been installed by Burnhead Wind Farm Ltd to collect data for a proposed wind farm at the location which is currently at the planning application site.
But the local community council, which have been in regular battles with energy giants about these renewable energy developments, insist erecting the mast is a waste of time.
A spokesperson said: “It is the purpose of the Community Council to reflect public opinion. Given that over 1000 written objections were submitted against the proposed wind turbines at Burnhead, we feel it is our duty to object in the strongest possible manner to this mast. ”
