Windfarm ABP appeal

Gaelectric Developments Ltd have lodged an appeal with An Bord Pleanala against Louth County Council’s decision to refuse planning permission for a wind farm development at Rockmarshall.
The impact of the turbines on the local landscape, the impact of shadow flicker and the impact on the residential properties in the area were among the reasons why Louth County Council refused permission for the development.
The An Bord Pleanala appeal lodged by Gaelectric describes Louth County Council’s Development Plan’s support of the low density residential settlement pattern in the area as an “…unsustainable form of settlement in the countryside” .
The Protect Rockmarshall Mountain Group intends to make a detailed observation to An Bord Pleanala in relation to Gaelectric’s planning application.
All observations/objections to the wind farm must be submitted to An Bord Pleanala no later than Monday, May 21 by 5.30pm and must be accompanied by a fee of e50.
Only those who have lodged an objection to the original application to Louth County Council and have obtained a written receipt in respect of their submission may make an observation to An Bord Pleanala.
According to The Protect Rockmarshall Mountain Group, “the situation with the wind farm is very much in the balance and undecided”.
The group is asking for the support and assistance of local residents adding that the situation is “very much in the balance…”
