RIVERTON – Pictou County council has accepted a proposal to develop a wind farm in Riverton.
Council passed a motion at Monday night’s regular council meeting to have SeaForth Energy develop a business case and confirm wind data for the municipal lands the county plans to develop.
Dartmouth-based Seaforth Energy was one of four companies that submitted proposals for the wind farm.
The tender on the project was issued in December of 2011 with three phases: design, construction and ongoing maintenance. Seaforth Energy won Phase 1 at a cost of $5,500.
