Proposal that launched CAWT is refused planning permission by Scottish Government after appeal.
The Directorate for Planning and Environmental Appeals (DPEA) yesterday dismissed the appeal to erect 2 x 80m/262ft high wind turbines at Cairncake Farm, near Cuminestown.
The proposal, submitted by Alan Twatt (Potatoes) Limited and Green Cat Renewables Limited, was the original reason that the CAWT group was formed in December 2009. Local residents considered that the turbines were inappropriately-located too close to homes and would have a detrimental cumulative impact on the surrounding landscape. The CAWT campaign has since spread to cover all of Aberdeenshire, with over 5,000 visitors per month to the CAWT website.
