A Jan. 5 article summarized the recent meeting of the Assembly of Delegates Special Committee on Inquiry of Cape and Vineyard Electric Cooperative and Cape Light Compact. More than 40 people were in the audience, including Brewster residents and administrators.
When an audience member, an opponent of large-scale turbines on the Cape, rose to speak, Brewster Selectman Ed Lewis called out “You’re out of order!” When asked by that person “Are you running this meeting?” Mr. Lewis yelled out “You’re an (expletive)!” After being chastised by the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Lewis stormed out.
It was apparent that Mr. Lewis was in attendance to support the work of CVEC/CLC. This is not the first time that Mr. Lewis has spoken ill of critics of industrial wind turbines. Two reporters have written of Mr. Lewis calling health concerns from turbines by residents “hogwash.”
It seems Mr. Lewis has a definite bias in favor of CVEC/CLC. Not only does he owe the town of Brewster and the Assembly of Delegates an apology, he should also recuse himself from further decisions that involve proposals by CVEC or CLC.
