Missing jobs

Credit:  The Scotsman, scotsman.com 4 July 2011 ~~

The Scottish Government’s recent paper 2020 Routemap for Renewable Energy in Scotland offers the possibility of up to 40,000 jobs.

Further searching fails to identify where these jobs are likely to be and merely lists a limited number of companies where actual job numbers are given: Doosan Power Systems – 200 jobs; Gamesa -300 jobs; Mitsubishi Power Systems Europe Ltd -likely to create 200 jobs; Wind Towers (Scotland) Ltd – safeguarding 80 jobs with the potential to create a further 40-50 over the next three years.

These identifiable job prospects fall somewhat short of the 40,000 stated earlier. However, what is even more significant is the total lack of reference to the 130,000 jobs by 2020 as made by the Scottish Government in one of their election pledges.

Perhaps the opposition might pick up on this and look to at least another dozen vital omissions in this document.
