Vote against the Green Community Act scam 

I am a member of the Topsfield community. I sit in my house recovering from the battles of the business day knowing full well that people are organizing and plotting to extract as much money as possible from every property owner in Topsfield. Look at your tax bill. My own tax bill has tripled since I moved here.

The financial challenges are real for Topsfield. They are not imaginary. What is not real is how the financial problem is being defined. What is missing is an effective plan. We are all in this beautiful boat and debating about the need for rescue vehicles, repairing town property, paying for fuel…etc. Topsfield is not in financial trouble because we are not contributing enough taxes; we are sinking because of the 3000-pound gorilla in the back of our boat… massive expenditures on town commitments that were made without any semblance of concern for the future adverse, dramatically adverse, impact on the residents and taxpayers of Topsfield.

Without recognizing the real problem Topsfield will never get out of this ‘spiral of doom’ to financial disaster. Without recognizing the real fiscal problem Topsfield will capsize.

There are solutions, but certainly not one of them is building a 22 story tall industrial turbine, just to fit Topsfield in as a ‘Green Community”…and its associated governmental promises of an endless smorgasbord of financial support. Topsfield does not need to erect an industrial wind turbine or yield to the big brother legislation of becoming a “Green Community”. It has been well demonstrated that industrial wind turbines rarely deliver on half their ‘economic promise’, are extremely harmful to the environment, particular humans that are unfortunate enough to be even a mile away from them and are actually now being forced to be located to off-land sites throughout Europe…which has learned the hard way about the extensive, severe, non-advertised/hidden costs of industrial wind turbines. The industrial wind turbine is just one example, although a particularly egregious one, of attempting to solve a problem by creating an even bigger problem.

Topsfield needs to avoid the sticky hand of the State politicians and bureaucrats who have an agenda that is not in the best interests of the citizens of Topsfield. Don’t believe me? … That’s for another letter.

All one needs to do is to watch Channel 10 and see the town meetings and how the discussion eventually leads to how to squeeze the taxpayers for more money, otherwise known as scamming and scaring the population into voting for the annual 2 1/2 override. The automatic, yearly 2 1/2 tax increase with which we already are assessed is never enough. It reminds me of the Godfather 2 movie character Don Fanucci. He goes throughout the neighborhood assuring the people that they will have the protection and life they want for their family as long as they pay up. “Wet my beak.”

Get ready Topsfield, these “Green Community Act” activists are gearing up to ram their communal will against us. Regardless of their politeness, Green activists are crafting their words to hide their true intensions. They are working hard to turn over another segment of our autonomy to the State and Federal government.

Committee people please listen. There are real solutions. I moved to Topsfield because it was quintessential America and it should stay that way. Leave us alone. If you want to fix something fix the root problem of the budget. We have so much money being sucked out of our pocket we need you to be on our side. Stop looking at us. Stop looking at our checkbook. Turn your eyes towards the direction of the problem.

Fellow Topsfield taxpayers, remember, vote against the “Green Community Act” scam. Also vote no for any override. It is truly us against them. As George Washington said,” Government is not reason, it is not eloquence – it is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.” Taxpayers of Topsfield, we must stick together.
