FORRESTON – On Sept. 1 at 7:07 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 911 call of an accident on IL Route 26 just north of Lanark Road, approximately one mile south of Forreston.
At the location, deputies observed that a trailer containing a windmill tower base had disconnected from the semi tractor pulling it and rolled over, blocking both lanes of the highway.
The driver was uninjured. The truck and trailer, operated by Mueller Transportation, Inc., was transporting the windmill base to Pennsylvania from Wisconsin. The truck trailer combination totaled 164 feet in length and weighed approximately 266,000 pounds.
The highway was closed for approximately six hours. Illinois Department of Transportation crews responded to repair the roadway. Ogle County Sheriff deputies were assisted at the scene by the Illinois State Police.
