An application for a wind turbine at Mullacott Cross, near Ilfracombe has been turned down by planners.
Applicant South West Water sought permission to erect the 40metre turbine to provide power at its water treatment works at Hore Down.
North Devon Council refused the proposal due to its impact on the local landscape.
