ORLEANS – The town energy committee is eyeing six local sites for a wind turbine, according to a report the panel submitted to selectmen.
The energy committee started its search for turbine sites after the water commissioners vetoed putting a turbine in the watershed in September.
Two of the proposed sites are state-owned off Route 6 at the Exit 12 cloverleaf. The proposed town-owned sites are at the so-called Tonn property off Giddiah Hill Road that hosts the town’s highway maintenance garage, land south of the composting shed at the Tritown Treatment plant off Route 6A, a parcel in the south corner of the town’s landfill property and land at Orleans Elementary School.
