Bob’s wind farm battle bus takes to the road

The Big Swindle bus has hit the road in Moray. Anti-wind farm campaigner Bob Graham has taken his opposition to a new level by buying a battle bus.

Mr Graham, from Inchberry, has campaigned for years against the visual intrusion of wind farms and the minimal impact he claims they have in generating renewable electricity.

He said last year across the UK, Government subsidies to wind farm providers amounted to more than £318 million.

“That will go up to around £1 billion over the next three years and will not actually achieve anything,” he said.

Mr Graham said conventional fossil fuel and nuclear means of generating electricity are still required to back up renewable power when the wind doesn’t blow.

The former RAF and offshore oil worker is determined to raise public awareness of the situation.

And Mr Graham will push Scottish politicians for a moratorium on further wind farm development and has plans to initiate a petition calling for this.

He will take his campaign bus to Dufftown on Saturday June 14 where local campaign group Save Our Scenic (SOS) Moray, which is fighting plans for a 59-turbine wind farm at Dorenell Farm on the Glenfiddich Estate, are having a public information day from 11am to 4pm.

“I plan to travel locally initially but then Scotland-wide, wherever people are fighting wind farms,” said Mr Graham.

The Scottish Government has set ambitious targets for producing electricity from renewable sources and Mr Graham believes that is why the “wind farm swindle” shows no signs of abating.

“The politicians are sticking to their guns because of these silly targets they are setting themselves,” he added.
