Head to head over windfarm scheme

Windfarm developers Acciona and protest group STAG (Save Trannon Moor Action Group) have gone head to head at an open day in Trefeglwys.

Spanish firm Acciona had arranged an open day on April 22 to display details about its proposal for an 11 turbine windfarm at Waun Garno, on land near Llawr-y-Glyn.

However, opposition group STAG countered with its own open day just metres away in another of the community centre’s rooms.

The exhibitions were both well attended, with more than 100 people turning out.

Acciona displayed details of its application, which has been submitted to Powys County Council, and also invited people to view a 3D computer model of how the site will look.

Chris Jackson, project development manager at Acciona, said: “We are very pleased that a significant number of people took the opportunity to come and view our exhibition, which is the fifth we have held in the area about the project.
