Wind farm plans announced for Randolph

WINCHESTER – Houston, Texas-based Horizon Wind Energy today announced plans to build a 100-megawatt to 200-megawatt wind farm south of Winchester in Randolph County.

The company is looking at building 50-100 2-megawatt turbines around an area of 60,800 acres, leasing land from property owners, officials said.

The area where turbines will be located – which includes the towns of Huntsville, Lynn and Unionport – is bordered by U.S. 27 to the east, Ind. 1 to the west, Randolph County Road 50-S to the north and the Wayne County line to the south.
